Kappa Beta- Grand Valley State University
The Kappa Beta chapter was founded on Grand Valley State University's campus January 27, 1996. Formerly known as Kappa Phi, a local sorority founded at Grand Valley on October 22, 1993, later affiliated with Sigma Kappa on September 1, 1995. Kappa Beta just celebrated its 26th year as a chapter at Grand Valley.
Fun Facts about Sigma Kappa:
~Our colors are Lavender and Maroon which were officially adopted in June of 1891.
~Our flower is the Violet, which was officially adopted in June of 1892.
~The Sigma Kappa Coat-of-Arms was adopted in 1911, which reflects the symbols of the sorority.
~The dove was accepted as an official symbol of Sigma Kappa in 1984 and the heart was adopted in 1988.
~We have more than 120 collegiate chapters in 36 states, more than 120 Alumnae Chapters in 40 states, and more than 165,000 members worldwide!
~Our Jewel is the Pearl.
~Our Open Motto is One Heart, One Way!
